Be the Change: World Water Day

Water flows through everything we do, from the water we drink in our homes, to the infrastructure that shapes our communities, to the industries that drive our economy and the resources that sustain our planet.

That’s why today, and every day, we celebrate World Water Day, designated by the United Nations to raise awareness of the world’s water and sanitation crisis. I am particularly inspired by this year’s theme of “Be the Change,” which encourages people to take action in their own lives to change the way they use, consume and manage water.

As water resources become increasingly scarce, our energy-efficient pumping solutions help reduce costs while improving the efficiency of transporting water from source to treatment facility, and ultimately, to the end user.

Clean, reliable water sustains people and the planet, and our commercial and residential water solutions provide great tasting, higher-quality water and ice while helping people use water more productively. In addition, our solutions provide benefits such as softened water to help prevent scale which extends the life of water-using equipment and filtration that reduces the need for single-use plastic water bottles.

Our innovative, energy efficient pool solutions help people more sustainably enjoy water. For instance, Pentair was the first pool equipment manufacturer to have an ENERGY STAR®-certified pool pump, and has been recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year since 2013. In 2022, our ENERGY STAR-certified pool pumps helped U.S. consumers save approximately 1 billion kWh of energy, resulting in GHG emissions reductions of 414,974 tons of CO2 and saving $142 million in operating costs.*
